FabulousJV goes Real Estate

As of this moment, I am already finished with all of my subjects in FIP Makati and I am now waiting for next year's graduation class. While waiting for my turn to move forward with my fashion career, I've decided to take a leap of faith and do what I've always wanted to do aside from fashion, Real Estate.

Even before I went to fashion school, there's always been a part of me that wants to know how the Real Estate industry works. When I was still working for an American bank, I've read several articles about various kinds of investments. During that time, I gained an interest in real estate, especially when I found  several articles stating that the Philippine economy is now being considered as a potential Tiger Economy of Asia. After doing my research and digesting the information that I acquired, I wanted to make sure that I board this real estate ship before it sails.

After doing my research on several real estate developers, I found a company that I would be proud to represent. My main consideration before joining Alveo was their projects and track records. Since Alveo is an Ayala Land Company, there's no more question about the company's integrity and ability to deliver their projects. One question that I asked myself really got me sold was... Given the money, will I buy an Alveo Property? IN A HEARTBEAT!

I've always wanted to live in Bonifacio Global City and I am completely head over heels for Alveo's latest development in BGC called High Street South. So after I determined that I have a strong belief in Alveo's projects, I needed to give myself a complete change of image in order to do my job well.

Going into Real Estate is the main reason why I had my hair cut. This also means that in the next few weeks, I will upload new items in The Vintage In My Closet to put items that can no longer fit my new image.

During my first day of work, our team visited several project sites while also exploring the amenities of each project. This also marks my first ever attempt to do wake boarding.

So that's what I am up to lately and the reason why I wasn't able to blog on a regular basis in the past few weeks.

Project Blouse Complete!

What I love most about our school is that I always have this sense of achievement whenever I finish a project. I love that I have a venue where I can unleash my creative prowess even if I am still making basic articles of clothing.

Mega Young Designers Competition 2013 Episode 1 & 2 Review

It's been days since my last post, but as promised I am back with my review of Mega YDC Allstars. I may not be a media expert or work on TV but I do watch numerous Reality TV Competitions, it's one of my guilty pleasures in life. From America's Next Top Model to The Face, Project Runway to Ru Paul's Drag Race, I am the target audience for these types of shows so I guess I am quite familiar when it comes to these shows format. So since this will be for episode 1 & 2, brace yourselves because this might be my longest post to date. Let's carry on with my two cents of the show shall we?

What I wore when I played The Million Peso Money Drop

It's been days since the episode where we played was aired on tv so I guess I can now share the clothes that I wore for that day.

with another hopeful contestant.

As seen on my previous post, I wore my Japanese inspired jumpsuit with a violet obi belt to complete the look.

My Million Peso Money Drop Look

Last Friday, I received a call from a coordinator of The Million Peso MoneyDrop. They informed me and my bff, Eljay Deldoc, that we are one of the chosen teams to play the game on tv. It’s going to be my first time to join a game show so I want to make a dress not only to make an impression but to also introduce myself as a fashion design student to the public.

Sewing Practice

After buying a hell lot of fabrics from our field trip, I sat in one corner and I realized that I still cannot translate a pattern into a real dress. Sure,  I created clothes without any patterns before but this time I wanted to complete something with the use of what I learned from our Basic Pattern Class.

The Day I Fell in Love with the Phantom of the Opera

It was around 11:00AM when I received a text message from a friend asking me if I want to sneak a peak at the backstage of The Phantom of the Opera, and without any second thoughts I immediately replied with a big YES! That was the beginning of my really interesting day.

Lady Gaga's Fame Eau De Parfum Review

I guess today is my lucky day! A colleague gave me a sampler of Lady Gaga's Fame Eau de Parfum. I've been searching for a place where I can purchase a bottle just to try this very controversial fragrance. Well at least now, I get to try it for free! I guess patience really is my friend. ^_^

My colleague said that when he found one in his luggage, he immediately remembered me and my wooden dress in Lady Gaga's concert. Because of his generosity, I decided to spread the kindness by sharing my two cents about Lady Gaga's much hyped black fragrance.

The Limited-Edition Bag and my Over-sized Square Bag

As much as I don't want to be a negative Nelly, I am currently sick and I can barely talk right now. Instead of blaming the universe for my swollen tonsils, I decided to search the internet for any bag designs that can make me smile... because bags are simply love materialized.

Friday: All about Embellishments and Bag Making

Embellishments. Aside from the design, the fabric, the cut, and the name of the designer who created the dress, the use of embellishments is a sure way to make clothes look and feel more expensive.

Busy Student Life and my dream Celestina Minaudiere

Too many things to do, so little time. I guess we all need a little more time to finish the things that we have on our lists. Just like any other working student, I am also juggling my time and energy. I just need to finish one very important project and then I'll be back to blogging on a daily basis.

Beads!!!

Tomorrow my patience will be tested once again. I will work with beads and various types of stitches in our Fashion Embellishment class. While learning the art of beading, I gained a whole new respect for people who do embellishments. I now understand why designer have their own set of beaders and seamstresses.

What I am most excited about is the bag that I will create in our Bag Making 1 class.

Check out my new school id at the end of this post!

The Golden Egyptian Bride and Miss Flores de Mayo

After watching Drop Dead Diva's Season 4 Finale, I immediately remembered our 1st assignment in Basic Fashion Design. We were asked to design a complete wedding entourage. This got me excited because this was the first time that I get to practice my sketching skills.

My Sanctuary
As I was imagining conceptualizing my bride, I knew that I wanted to do a Mermaid dress and that it should also have a little something extra to make it unique. I just allowed my hands to draw some lines until a clear theme formed in my head. I wanted to do a bridal entourage inspired by Amazons and Gladiators, and the theme will be Love is a Battlefield. The Bride will be a Warrior Queen/Empress who came out as the victor of a Happily Ever After Battle Royal. Who said that women are simply damsels in distress? I wanted my muse to know what she wants and knows how to get it too.

Bonjour! Comment Allez-vous?

Since I was 7 years old, I've always been fascinated with the French Language. I guess it has something to do with the Vtech Laptop that I had when I was a child, which was configured only in the French Language. I remember failing miserably in the word games because I was entering the English answers while the laptop was talking to me in French. Instead of answering "Fille," I was answering "Girl" when an image of a smiling lass popped up on the screen. Eventually I was able to adjust and I learned several French words, simply because I have no other choice.

Fashion Design

I did a very spontaneous decision earlier. I went to FIP to attend this term's Fashion Merchandising class. Although our instructor Ms.Wanda Madarang already gave me a completed remark on this subject, I still wanted to learn the topics that I missed. When I arrived, I saw my previous classmates in Basic Fashion design taking the Advance Fashion Design course, which is also scheduled for that same day.

Can I just stay here everyday? Lol
