Project Blouse Complete!

What I love most about our school is that I always have this sense of achievement whenever I finish a project. I love that I have a venue where I can unleash my creative prowess even if I am still making basic articles of clothing.

Sewing Class Project No.1 @ FIP Makati

It's been a while since I last posted a project that I made in school. After my short sabbatical, I decided that I need to start from the basics in order to hone my sewing skills. I've already tried rushing a garmet to it's completion so now I want to do it the right way.

Exhibit: Ann Pamintuan's Sculptures and Designs

After meeting my new classmates, I asked them if they want to walk with me to the Ayala MRT Station instead of taking a cab from school. I told them that if we walked around we may find something interesting along the way and fortunately my hunch was spot on.

Since Greenbelt is right around the corner from FIP Makati we were able to catch a display of Ann Pamintuan's works.

My Million Peso Money Drop Look

Last Friday, I received a call from a coordinator of The Million Peso MoneyDrop. They informed me and my bff, Eljay Deldoc, that we are one of the chosen teams to play the game on tv. It’s going to be my first time to join a game show so I want to make a dress not only to make an impression but to also introduce myself as a fashion design student to the public.

Sewing Practice

After buying a hell lot of fabrics from our field trip, I sat in one corner and I realized that I still cannot translate a pattern into a real dress. Sure,  I created clothes without any patterns before but this time I wanted to complete something with the use of what I learned from our Basic Pattern Class.

Revamping Old Clothes

The other day as I was cleaning my table at school, one of my teachers asked me if I wanted to get an old top that they are about to throw away. It was a stretched shirt with ruffled lace sleeves with a big angel wing print in front. Apparently they only collected the embellishments and have no more use for it.

Can you see the threads sticking out?

Without skipping a beat, I said I wanted to have it.  I took that offer as a challenge on how I can transform that sad little shirt into something more interesting.

It's been a long time since my last post here and a lot of things happened. To make up for lost time, I shall give a quick run down of what I went through in the last few weeks.

Before and After Fashion Design Class

I still can't believe that a few months ago, I am just dreaming of creating decent sketches of my own designs. I've always knew that I wanted to do fashion since I was young and now I really believe that I am slowly getting there.

The Vintage in my Closet

Today marks another first for me. Today I decided to put up my first online shop!

As I was trying my best to clear some space from my jam-packed closet, I decided to do put another dream into reality.

Sketches, Projects, and FIP Makati!

It was one busy week! Aside from watching The Phantom of the Opera and getting my prizes from Soul BGC, of course I have to give time to what I enjoy most... school work!!!

My seat work in Advance Fashion Design

Four months ago, I can't even draw a decent adult figure. When I started in Basic Fashion Design, my first drawing is so disturbing that I even proclaimed that my goal after the course is to be the "most improved."

Don't get me wrong, I may not be the best illustrator in class but if you've seen where I came from, trust me, you will definitely  agree. Check this post to see for yourself.

The Limited-Edition Bag and my Over-sized Square Bag

As much as I don't want to be a negative Nelly, I am currently sick and I can barely talk right now. Instead of blaming the universe for my swollen tonsils, I decided to search the internet for any bag designs that can make me smile... because bags are simply love materialized.

Busy Student Life and my dream Celestina Minaudiere

Too many things to do, so little time. I guess we all need a little more time to finish the things that we have on our lists. Just like any other working student, I am also juggling my time and energy. I just need to finish one very important project and then I'll be back to blogging on a daily basis.

Beads!!!

Tomorrow my patience will be tested once again. I will work with beads and various types of stitches in our Fashion Embellishment class. While learning the art of beading, I gained a whole new respect for people who do embellishments. I now understand why designer have their own set of beaders and seamstresses.

What I am most excited about is the bag that I will create in our Bag Making 1 class.

The Golden Egyptian Bride and Miss Flores de Mayo

After watching Drop Dead Diva's Season 4 Finale, I immediately remembered our 1st assignment in Basic Fashion Design. We were asked to design a complete wedding entourage. This got me excited because this was the first time that I get to practice my sketching skills.

My Sanctuary
As I was imagining conceptualizing my bride, I knew that I wanted to do a Mermaid dress and that it should also have a little something extra to make it unique. I just allowed my hands to draw some lines until a clear theme formed in my head. I wanted to do a bridal entourage inspired by Amazons and Gladiators, and the theme will be Love is a Battlefield. The Bride will be a Warrior Queen/Empress who came out as the victor of a Happily Ever After Battle Royal. Who said that women are simply damsels in distress? I wanted my muse to know what she wants and knows how to get it too.

Bonjour! Comment Allez-vous?

Since I was 7 years old, I've always been fascinated with the French Language. I guess it has something to do with the Vtech Laptop that I had when I was a child, which was configured only in the French Language. I remember failing miserably in the word games because I was entering the English answers while the laptop was talking to me in French. Instead of answering "Fille," I was answering "Girl" when an image of a smiling lass popped up on the screen. Eventually I was able to adjust and I learned several French words, simply because I have no other choice.

Fashion Design

I did a very spontaneous decision earlier. I went to FIP to attend this term's Fashion Merchandising class. Although our instructor Ms.Wanda Madarang already gave me a completed remark on this subject, I still wanted to learn the topics that I missed. When I arrived, I saw my previous classmates in Basic Fashion design taking the Advance Fashion Design course, which is also scheduled for that same day.

Can I just stay here everyday? Lol
